Mark Erikstrup, Project Engineer

Mark Erikstrup has nearly 25 years experience working with process controls and automation. He began his career in 1985 at Detector Electronics in Bloomington, Minnesota. Experience included control panel design, fabrication, programming, and following the project through the lifecycle, including simulation, logic checkout, and field startup/commissioning for control, flame safety and burner management systems.

In 1988, Mark went to work for Wunderlich-Malec Engineering in Eden Prairie, Minnesota as a process instrumentation and control systems design engineer. He worked on all control systems-related aspects of projects in various industries, including grain handling, food and beverage, web processes, pulp and paper, and integrated circuit manufacturing.

In 1994, Mark took a job with Weyerhaeuser as a senior control systems design engineer, where he did estimating, scheduling, design, procurement, and documentation for electrical controls and instrumentation. He also prepared bid documents, generated scope of work information, and oversaw electrical construction. He worked on several large environmental and production improvement projects, including furnace modifications to include radiant thermal oil heater sections, installation of a dry electro-static precipitator, electronic filter beds controls upgrade, and a complete retrofit of the forming line from DC to AC drives.

In 2009, Mark joined JDI contracts Inc. He worked in the field on Great River Energy’s DryFiningTM project, the first of its kind commercial coal drying system that beneficiates coal so that it burns more efficiently and reduces emissions. Roles included specification and procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment. He also worked with contractors of several trades to assist with installation and plant startup.

Mark received his Associate in Electronics from Northwestern Electronics Institute. He also has completed many vendor-specific and equipment-specific training courses. Mark and his wife Kerrie live in Deerwood, MN.
