A technical definition of Process Consultation is "the central discipline for helping professionals to build strong client-consultant relationships that result in sustained change and improvement." We view process consultation more simply as three distinct, but related, ideas:

1. Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and partners.
2. Seamless integration of business operations and discrete projects, or change.
3. Delivery of healthy, second order change.
